This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. A Technical Designer develops, maintains, submits for release engineering drawings, systems designs and/or engineering documentation and data by applying company, industry, and governmental standards. Applies design/development tools to prepare documentation and incorporate design changes and maintains systems designs by preparing design layouts, modifying existing designs and assisting in identifying design discrepancies. The Technical Designer supports engineering system design and functional validation activities. Requirements

  • Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings using ProE/Creo.
  • Apply company and industry (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, lay-out, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
  • Extensive experience with ProEngineer /Creo with Windchill
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3
  • Experience in design and analysis of piping/tubing systems.
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc.)
  • Knowledge of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps etc.)
  • Experience with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41
  • Familiar with existing applicable and industry drafting standards.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years or greater proven experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD P&ID
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance preferred
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning processes / levels and passivation of stainless steel
  • Experience with a PDM version control database

Responsibilities

  • Perform design and maintenance of fluid components & system definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies.
  • Coordinate fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified systems at any Blue Origin site.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly.
