About The Position

We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. We are looking for a versatile designer to support the development of fluids, structural, avionics, and harness designs. The designer will work directly with engineers to create, maintain, and release CAD data. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will facilitate configuration development and integration of New Glenn’s Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA) for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of GS2PA System Design. You will support vehicle subsystems CAD models, drawings, and other engineering design data. Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
• Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience managing large CAD assemblies and BOMs.
• Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing designs to produce world-class engineered products.
• Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years proven experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD P&ID.
• Knowledge of standard avionics components and harness routing in Creo.
• Knowledge of avionics brackets and secondary support structures.
• Experience with tube, pipe, and harness routing in Creo.
• Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Prepare/evolve design layouts, create and maintain detail part and assembly drawings using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
• Review engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
• Support engineering teams in the development of mechanical layout and detail design and drawings for structural, mechanical, fluids, and electronic detail parts and assemblies.
• Apply relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
• Implementation of engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
