About The Position

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for two (2) unlimited, full-time Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor positions in our Aircraft Maintenance Technician Department within the School of Trade Technologies starting 2026 Fall Semester. These two instructors will teach students in the new evening cohorts that we will add to the Program in August 2026. Program Features: Located in Delta Air Lines Building C at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. Teaches Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant curriculum (14 CFR Part 147) Currently enrolls three cohorts of 25 students each (daytime classes) with a commitment to add two cohorts of 25 students each (evening classes) starting in August 2026. Prepares students to pass the FAA Airman Certificate with “A” and “P” ratings written, oral, and practical examinations and obtain employment as aviation maintenance technicians. One of 49 Delta Air Lines “preferred” aviation maintenance technician schools with access to and support from one of the nation’s largest airlines.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Aviation Maintenance: Education Requirement: diploma in aviation maintenance.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement: four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in aviation maintenance.
  • Recency Requirement: one year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Professional Requirement: FAA Airframe and Power Plant License (FAA 147 requirement)
  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment)
  • Ability to pass a background check and be issued a contractor's T.O.C. security badge by Delta Air Lines for facility access.
  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, aviation management, education, or a related field.
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
  • Experience teaching in FAA Part 147 programs or other formal aviation maintenance technician training environments.
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard)
  • Background in mentoring, coaching, or supervising aviation maintenance technicians or apprentices.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including first generation, adult learners, and multilingual students
  • Experience integrating emerging technologies (e.g., digital maintenance systems, composites, avionics troubleshooting tools) into instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population
  • Develop and revise instructional materials
  • Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and College levels
  • Maintain labs, instructional equipment, and tools in a safe, clean, organized, and professional manner
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with instructors in the Aircraft Maintenance A&P Technician Program, the Department’s administrators, academic advisors, and support staff, and all College personnel
  • Participate actively in the college community through Aircraft Maintenance Technician Department and School of Trade Technologies meetings and College-wide committee work
  • Utilize campus technology to stay current in the aviation maintenance technician occupation and connect to faculty, staff, and students
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships.
