About The Position

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining and implementing corporate procurement for availability of materials, supplies, equipment, and services. Purchase more complex items: system parts, commodities and supporting services for systems projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the application of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain vendor relationships.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, as well as collaborate with other corporate positions.
  • Accreditation and/or college degree.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience
  • Be proficient in all aspect of systems project purchasing for Mellott Company
  • Understand Mellott Companies estimate contracts and budgets. Work with project managers to keep projects on or under budget.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical

Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier contract negotiation, supplier selection and contract lifecycle management.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, as well as collaborate with other corporate positions.
  • Create POs as necessary to procure goods or services and monitors PO’s for accuracy and completeness in accordance to Purchase Order process and procedures.
  • Perform vendor research to reduce operating costs and boost efficiency.
  • Work directly with suppliers to ensure accuracy of pricing and payment terms.
  • Meet with suppliers regularly and/or with management to review performance and address any issues.
  • Assist with providing updates to procedures and policies regarding the procurement of goods and/or services.
  • Suggest and facilitate cost saving programs.
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Participate as a team player within the Purchasing Department.
  • Negotiate larger contracts for projects.
  • Understand Mellott Companies estimate contracts and budgets. Work with project managers to keep projects on or under budget.
  • Assist project managers in managing subcontractors and suppliers at jobsites.
  • Attend meeting where purchasing input is required. (i.e. production, project kickoff, etc.)
  • Make decisions with confidence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
