About The Position

They will be the TEchnical BA/Product Owner working on AEP Energy's EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system for generating energy rates to customers. EDI platform handles: 1. Accounts Payable 2. Accounts Receivable 3. Customer Billing 4. Procurement (Supply Chain) Migrating from home grown customizable platform to SAAS product, off the self, not customizable. They need this Senior Resource to come in with 1) Thought leadership- Go out and find solutions on your own, few choices and come back with options/cost/go forward plan/etc 2) Critical thinking in the technical sense. Need to ask WHY, ask questions, dont be compliant with everyone, what you to challenge when it makes sense 3) Be able to pitch this to key stakeholders and present the WHY, backing behind it Application Support Team, manages the primary energy retail platform, Nexstar, which handles all energy sales, bids, purchases, and customer service interactions. Project Goal: The team is migrating from their homegrown Nexstar platform to a SaaS solution, a multi-year journey with significant organizational change management (OCM). Candidate Role: The ideal candidate needs to understand the delta between the current system and the SaaS solution, manage organizational change, and address feature gaps. Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior-level IT Business Analyst to join our team. This role serves as a pivotal bridge between business operations stakeholders and Agile software development teams, requiring a pseudo-technical understanding of how software applications support operational processes. You will leverage your expertise to align business needs with technical solutions, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and driving process improvements. Collaborating across technology teams and business partners, you will lead the entire enhancement lifecycle of our core platform, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions for our organization. Prior experience in the energy industry or B2B applications is a plus, but your ability to quickly learn and adapt to new domains is essential.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, information systems, business, or related field.
7+ years of relevant work experience.
Familiarity with Jira or Azure DevOps.
Demonstrated success in remote team working models.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in the energy industry or B2B applications is a plus
Basic knowledge of SQL query development is a plus.

Responsibilities

Energy Industry Billing and B2B Expertise: Apply your deep understanding of energy industry billing processes, logic, and B2B exchanges (including EDI) to analyze production issues, create business cases, and guide project scope.
Agile User Story Development: Craft detailed user stories in Jira or Azure DevOps, translating complex business requirements into actionable tasks for development teams.
Stakeholder Communication & Strategic Alignment: Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Facilitate workshops to gather requirements, document business capabilities, and refine assets. Lead cross-functional collaboration and planning to achieve project goals.
Requirements Elicitation & Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis, including use case modeling, data modeling, and process mapping, to understand stakeholder needs and identify improvement opportunities.
Data & Technical Acumen: Utilize querying tools and relational database knowledge to identify data issues and resolutions. Provide feedback on database designs and translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Leverage Power BI for data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation.
Process Improvement: Apply advanced facilitation and process improvement skills to lead process redesigns and support initiatives. Mentor and guide other business analysts within the department.
Strategic Application Road mapping & Development Lifecycle Management: Lead the development and execution of strategic roadmaps for applications, aligning them with overall business goals. Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from planning and requirements gathering to implementation and maintenance. Proactively identify opportunities to optimize applications for improved efficiency and user experience.
Risk Management & Change Management: Identify, assess, and proactively communicate project risks, developing mitigation plans as needed. Support the implementation of change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions for end-users.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA teams to ensure delivered solutions meet requirements and quality standards.
