Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including power generation and conversion systems, magnetics, and sensors for extreme environments. Located in Milwaukie, OR (in the Greater Portland Area), this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select aircraft and ground vehicle markets, spanning business jet, narrow body, wide body, and fighter jet platforms as well as military ground vehicles. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon, among others. Technical Author Specialist I Position Summary: The Technical Author Specialist I provides expertise on complex technical document data. Examines documents to verify completeness and accuracy of data, and resolves discrepancies with document originators, while aligning with Parker's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, 0-2 years experience.
  • Ability to provide expertise in document control procedures in a regulated environment
  • Capable of using existing procedures, analysis and standard practices to solve standard problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize according to urgency while remaining flexible
  • Ability to read and update technical documents
  • Ability to use existing procedures and critical thinking to solve complex problems
  • Computer proficiency with experience using Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat and database management tools

Responsibilities

  • Prepares engineering data for release
  • Performs release and retrieval activities to/from document control system
  • Collects and maintains documentation files that define product configuration
  • Develops new or revised documentation; distributing to appropriate users and ensuring that obsolete documentation is removed
  • Uses various computer programs to ensure security and appropriate user access to documents
  • Follows defined procedures per company procedures to perform document control processes
  • Participates in internal audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations
  • Interfaces with other departments in the completion of document control processes
  • Evaluates possible solutions and results of work for which the employee is responsible
  • Makes recommendations and/or decisions accordingly using professional judgment
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
