The Technical Assistant II provides essential patient care services, manages supplies and equipment, and adheres to infection control standards. This role involves demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills for patient services, receiving assignments from an RN, and accessing and reporting patient status data. The Technical Assistant also performs clerical duties, phlebotomy, safety attendant tasks, and other duties within their scope, all while following established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with state required.
  • Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • High level of compassion, desire to help others and highly motivated.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience.
  • Previous healthcare experience.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care services.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock supplies and equipment.
  • Apply the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned.
  • Receive assignments as delegated by the RN.
  • Access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient's needs.
  • Provide care based on established policies and procedures.
  • Perform clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant, and other duties as assigned within their scope.
  • Provide and document assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assist/provide patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
  • Assist in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
  • Organize supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Understand concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
  • Adhere to safety measures.
