Technical Advisor Position Overview: In this role, you will network with a highly diverse global stakeholder and customer base across the Row Crop and Vegetable business. You will model and promote a customer-focused culture within the team and act as a resource to internal stakeholders on data interpretation of test results. Your technical support will be crucial for lab production workflows, and you will troubleshoot to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. You will complete method improvements by recognizing, proposing, and leading collaborative projects to enhance lab test method quality, efficiency, and reduce costs in lab operations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will assist in initiating and managing internal and external research collaborations to create and validate new technologies. Reporting experimental results both internally and externally in formal reports, presentations, and posters will be part of your responsibilities. You will also develop the technical abilities of team members to drive a strong technical culture that is innovative and quality-focused. Ensuring compliance with all appropriate accreditations such as ISO, ASL, & ISTA as held by the seed physiology lab is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field with 5+ years of experience, Master’s degree in a science-related field with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD in a science-related field
  • Registered Seed Technologist
  • Experience with seed testing workflows in a quality control laboratory
  • Technical ability and experience with project management
  • Ability to work with and lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific journal articles, technical procedures, government regulations, and seed testing procedures
  • Experience with some of the following computer programs: Microsoft Excel (Data Analysis, Macros, etc.), Business Objects, Access (database design and use), LIMS (Labware or Labvantage preferred), SAP.
