Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion from an AMA accredited training program in 2 D, color flow and M Mode echocardiography, and CPR Certification.
  • Register as an echosonographer is required.
  • Registered Echo sonographer and current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms and verify completeness of patient examination prior to submission to Cardiologist.
  • Maintain diagnostic equipment in good working order and notify Supervisor or Director of any equipment in need of repairs.
  • Record inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Distribute and file all reports.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform quantitative measurements of data obtained from the on mode tracings.
  • Take verbal orders for diagnostic testing from physicians and record orders in chart.
  • Utilizes order entry system to access and complete exams.
  • Compile echo cardiology reports for physicians. Properly label and organize paperwork and/or tapes, CD for physician review.
