An Anesthesia tech as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures. A Licensed Vocational Nurse functions under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. The Anesthesia Tech plans and individualizes patient care, providing technical and clinical support to Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists by ensuring the availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and supplies. The technician will prepare anesthesia supplies and equipment to assist with the placement of invasive catheters, and will prepare and assist the anesthesia provider for patient airway induction and intubation and transport under the direction of the Anesthesiologist, CRNA and/or RN. The position supports patient care for the population served, cleans, sterilizes, and disinfects routine anesthesia equipment, and maintains inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts, and the anesthesia supply areas. It may be necessary to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on call/call back status. The role also involves participation in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to anesthesia technician activities and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
