As a Teammate Relations Advisor, you will be a steward of our culture, helping us live our Core Values and protect the Village by providing expert guidance and support to our leaders. The Teammate Relations Advisor (TMRA) is a critical role within the Labor and Employment Operatives (LEO) team. You will consult, support, and advise operational leaders on a wide range of sensitive teammate matters to ensure fair, consistent, and equitable treatment of all teammates. This role is centered on mitigating risk, providing policy interpretation, and guiding leaders through performance management and corrective action processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist, employee relations, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations principles, performance management, and employment law.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments in complex, high-risk situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a large, multi-state, or healthcare organization.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification.
  • Experience using HRIS systems like Workday for case management and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Guidance and Consultation: Serve as the primary point of contact for operational leaders, providing expert advice and support on matters including performance management, teammate conduct, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
  • Corrective Actions and Performance Improvement: Review and provide guidance on corrective actions and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) to ensure they are consistent, fair, and aligned with DaVita's policies and precedents. Assess the severity of infractions and recommend appropriate levels of disciplinary action, from coaching to termination. Ensure all documentation is factual, objective, and clearly communicates expectations.
  • Risk Mitigation: Protect the Village by identifying and mitigating potential legal and financial risks associated with teammate relations issues. Triage and vet teammate allegations, escalating cases of potential harassment, discrimination, or retaliation to the Employment Investigations team as appropriate.
  • Case Management: Handle urgent and sensitive situations such as reasonable suspicion, suicide threats, and teammate altercations with immediate attention. Manage cases related to job abandonment, attendance, rehire eligibility, and administrative leave or suspensions.
  • Collaboration: Partner with other People Services functions, including the Employment Investigations team, Legal, and Leave of Absence (LOA), to provide comprehensive support to leaders and teammates.
