About The Position

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. This position will support communication with individuals who speak Spanish and are involved with adaptations of the Be CALM Program, including participants and their families. Additionally, this position will support the delivery of the Be CALM Program to Spanish-speaking participants and families. Regarding communication support, this position will: Travel to participating schools (or other central location) to provide Spanish interpretation for School Open Houses and parent/family meetings. Provide Spanish interpretation during virtual parent/family meetings. Communicate in Spanish with participants and/or their families through additional means (e.g., email, phone), as allowed by UNC IRB . Utilize knowledge of the professional standards and ethics for providing interpretation. With regard to supporting the delivery of the Be CALM Program, this position will: Coordinate delivery of a multi-component social-emotional intervention with Spanish-speaking participants/families across several school districts. Review translated program materials and make edits, as needed. Collaborate with project staff and relevant consultants to support program and participant needs in relation to Spanish language use.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the professional standards and ethics for interpreters.
  • Intermediate knowledge, fluency, and skill in translating/interpreting in Spanish for assisting non-English speaking persons.
