About The Position

With minimum supervision, act as a working lead while providing lead support to the overall lab functions. Coordinate the workflow to ensure unit performance is maintained.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of experience in applicable functional area
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the functions of all Optical Technician jobs
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to speak in group situations and discussions toward resolving issues
  • Clearly and concisely communicate project issues and status
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects while meeting department timelines
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to carry/lifting to up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasional after hours /weekend hours required to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform department tasks including one or more of the following:
  • Oversee the work of the division/team staff and manage the daily work volume including any service agreements with customers or business partners
  • Assist management with monitoring team performance; provide prompt, objective coaching and counseling; apprise supervisor of successes and concerns; provide input for performance evaluations
  • Assist management with monitoring of personnel moves within the Optical lab
  • Assist in overseeing the department staff to ensure quality, timeliness and accuracy meet line of business standards
  • Step in to support within the lab in any area when there is a staffing need(s).
  • Assist in the coordination of staff in the event of a natural disaster; keeping up to date on all safety and evacuation procedures
  • Coordinate with other units/departments to facilitate special requests, change in processes and resolution of work flow/production issues
  • Ensure all department processes and performance standards are documented accurately; develop and maintain department procedure manuals; train division/team employees on current or revised unit processes and procedures
  • Research and resolve issues related to internal performance of the department
  • Assist, cooperate and communicate with appropriate departments to resolve workflow issues
  • Support management in proper scheduling of staff by communicating staffing gaps due to scheduled/unscheduled absences
  • Start up and shut down lab software, when applicable
  • Keep up to date on all safety and evacuation procedure
  • Act as point of contact for escalated customer or business partner issues and escalate to management for proper resolution to meet business standards of operational excellence and client satisfaction
  • Support department and strategic initiatives by meeting target goals and objectives set by management
  • Support in the training/development of new associates in the lab as assigned by management.
