The Mental Health Professional – Team Lead reports to the Program Director and Assistant Program Director. This role is responsible for providing Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)–compliant individual and group supervision to unlicensed mental health professionals, as well as clinical consultation to licensed and unlicensed staff. The Team Lead maintains an active caseload and meets agency impact and documentation standards to ensure contractual compliance and high-quality client care. This position also assists in determining and balancing caseload assignments for the rest of the program’s mental health professionals.

Requirements

  • Licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage Family Child Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist, with at least two (2) years' post-licensure.
  • Eligible to provide BBS Supervision under California State Regulations, specifically licensed as an L.M.F.T., L.C.S.W., or L.P.C.C. for 2 years or more and able to provide clinical supervision to A.M.F.T., A.S.W., or A.P.C.C. staff.
  • Has taken or is able to take (required immediately after hire) BBS approved courses to become a valid BBS Supervisor of associate clinicians.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated skills in clinical mental health services with individuals, families, and groups.
  • Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorder to include evidence-based modalities of treatment.
  • Experience managing crisis and applying crisis intervention skills.
  • Remain knowledgeable of new developments in the mental health field including changes in laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment and technology.
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Establish and maintain community relationships.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to operate within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws; Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and abilities to supervise clinical staff, to provide clinical assessments and interventions using individual, family, and group modalities.
  • Expertise in supervising and training staff in record keeping, documentation procedures, and client/record confidentiality, as required by professional and legal standards in the State of California, and Turning Point of Central California Policy and Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a caseload for individual therapy and meet the region’s impact and document timeliness expectation.
  • Provide direct client services (individual therapy, rehab, case management, etc.) in both office and field settings.
  • Assist with initial assessment and CANS CFT meetings as needed.
  • Responsible to perform duties as assigned by the Program Director and Assistant Program Director in the areas of program procedures, clinical documentation, report writing, and clinical services.
  • Provides individual and group clinical supervision, as required by licensing regulations, to all licensed and unlicensed treatment staff.
  • Employees shall follow the reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  • Attend, facilitate, and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.
  • Provide supervision and training to all staff members assigned to the team.
  • Ensure high-risk cases are monitored until stabilized, whether new cases or in conjunction with cases already assigned to other teams.
  • Maintain professional, respectful, and effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, government representatives, and community partners.
  • Assist in reviewing case files and audits to assure compliance with State and Federal government policies, procedures and rules (EPSDT compliance).
  • Prepare and review clinical reports and correspondence as required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for staff and clients.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Will drive on Agency business.
  • Physical presence at the program is required.
  • Ensure direct report staff follow the agency’s timecard, PTO (Paid Time Off), and California’s rest and meal period policies. Will monitor staff timesheets to ensure they are completed accurately.
  • Employees are expected to manage their cell phone use so that the Agency cell phone stipend covers all business usage. Any calls not covered by the stipend are to be made on a company landline phone.
