About The Position

Team Lead Generation System Operations provides day-to-day leadership and coordination of activities associated with the reliable dispatch of Alliant Energy’s generation resources as well as the operation of the Alliant Energy Balancing Authority Areas. This position supports scheduling, compliance, and operational processes for generation dispatch and energy accounting, ensuring adherence to NERC standards and MISO procedures. The role trains and guides staff, assists with outage coordination, and supports emergency response activities to maintain system reliability. Work Schedule: Primarily an on-site role with some flexibility for limited remote work.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of generation dispatch operations and interconnected system practices.
  • Knowledge of NERC standards and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use computer software programs (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheet, project management).
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Engineering or related field Preferred.
  • System Operator Certification (SOC) – North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Preferred
  • 3 years of experience in interconnected system operations, generation dispatch or related work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs leadership duties including setting clear goals, providing feedback, and fostering an inclusive and safe workplace.
  • Coordinates and schedules generation outages and testing to ensure system reliability.
  • Supports compliance with NERC standards, MISO operating procedures, and corporate policies.
  • Assists with development and implementation of normal and emergency operating procedures.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff on bulk electric system operations and energy accounting processes.
  • Supports 24/7 emergency response activities, including load shedding and system restoration.
  • Coordinates the integration and implementation of new generation and tie line interconnections into Generation Dispatch Center systems and processes.
  • Engages in other duties that support Alliant Energy’s Values and Purpose.
