About The Position

The Team Lead Finish Operator at Johnson & Johnson MedTech is responsible for operating diverse types of machinery in an assigned cell to produce various Medical Devices, including implants. This role ensures that production requirements are met, product quality is maintained, machine maintenance schedules are adhered to, and safety rules are followed, all under the direction of a supervisor and/or cell lead. The position is part of the Supply Chain Manufacturing function, specifically within Manufacturing Product & Packaging Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operates diverse types of equipment used to manufacture various types of Medical Devices established within the manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
  • Completes tasks using technology systems such as PLM, MES, Microsoft Office, ERP systems, etc.
  • Performs operations depending on cell assignment and product being manufactured, which may include cutting raw material, drilling, milling, bending, deburring, buffing, laser etching, wax injection, dipping, dewax, pour, assembly or packaging/labeling.
  • Inspects finished and in-process product for dimensional and cosmetic attributes according to defined specifications.
  • Assembles, packages, and labels various orthopedic medical devices following specific procedures, and operates various manual and semi-automatic packaging equipment.
  • Uses various types of measuring instruments including, numerous types of gauges, micrometers, calipers, comparators, pH meters, go/ no-go gages, conductivity meters, visual inspectional, and digital titrators for chemical analysis.
  • Uses diverse types of hand tools but not limited to wrenches, screwdrivers, deburr knifes etc.
  • Performs Operator Asset Care on a regular basis such as, but not limited to, process machine maintenance.
  • Completes rework or reprocessing, as necessary, on products rejected by process in the specification.
  • Works with other production areas and cell leaders, as necessary, to resolve quality problems.
  • Works following appropriate safety practices and/or JSAs to prevent accidents to self or co-workers.
  • Knows and follows all policies that apply to one's job, and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance always.
  • Ensures that in process quality checks are completed following established quality specifications.
  • Interfaces with quality and other production employees to resolve problems.
  • Works in accordance with all requirements for manufacturing medical devices (e.g. FDA QSR, ISO 9000, ISO 13485).
  • Completes required documentation as required by process, and inspection sheets, work instructions, and the document traceability.
  • Sets the standard for production performance, effective communication, promoting positive morale and supporting employee involvement programs.
  • Works with the PP&L group to ensure completion of production schedule.
  • Partners with area supervisor on ensuring that production seats are adequately covered based on the production scheduled and that attendance events (i.e. PTO) is managed and the floor accommodated to compensate accordingly.
  • Develops and regularly reports on department metrics, including OEE, production output, equipment downtime, continuous improvement activities, safety improvements, and other departmental tracking as defined by the Business Unit.
  • Monitors machine downtime and escalates repairs through Maximo.
  • Monitors and maintains operating supply inventories, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Knows and follows all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance at all times.
  • Partners with engineering team to ensure completion of expansion & validation activities in a timely manner, acting as subject matter expert where applicable or providing correct point of contact to operator subject matter expert.
  • Follows all applicable EHS&S policies and procedures which includes PPE, work practices, and control measures.
  • Promptly reports EHS&S Incidents and Good Saves.
  • Completes EHS&S training and CAPAs on-time.
  • Ensures department waste is segregated for proper disposal (recycle vs trash).
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs all the duties for the operator levels on their respective areas as listed in the job descriptions for those levels/roles.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.
