The newly established 16-bed Medical-Surgical unit, featuring 12 private rooms, will foster a supportive caregiver environment grounded in shared values and a unified purpose—to be the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare. As Team Center Coordinator on this unit, you will provide top-quality customer service to patients, families and visitors to promote and support the best healthcare experience possible. You will perform various administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow in your department while offering direct patient care under the supervision of an RN. This role offers you a unique opportunity to enhance both your management and nursing skills in a welcoming, encouraging environment. This position offers tuition reimbursement, preceptorship opportunities, exposure to new skills through floating, and involvement in shared governance. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent, full-time experience in patient care or customer service OR additional education/training OR current nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call systems, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
  • Provide or assist with basic patient care activities, such as taking vital signs and weights, personal care, activities of daily living, patient transfers and transports, pulse oximetry and point of care testing.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to an RN.
