About The Position

The Clinical Coordinator functions as the operational and clinical execution leader for assigned units and serves as the direct extension of the Manager, Clinical Services. This role is accountable for real-time implementation of departmental strategy, quality metrics, policy adherence, staffing coordination, competency validation, and regulatory compliance. The Clinical Coordinator ensures unit-level performance aligns directly with the Manager’s clinical, financial, throughput, and policy governance objectives. This position is scheduled primarily during afternoon and evening hours and may be structured as 8-hour or 10-hour shifts based on clinical and operational need. The role provides leadership overlap between day and night 12-hour nursing shifts and includes at least one weekend per month to ensure consistent leadership representation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of employment)
  • Valid CA RN License
  • BLS Card
  • ACLS Card

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in nursing or related field preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years acute care RN experience in specialty area.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (Charge RN or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in functional area.
  • ONC preferred

Responsibilities

  • CLINICAL EXECUTION & QUALITY METRIC ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Operationalizes Manager-defined quality goals at the shift level.
  • Monitors falls, pressure injuries, infection prevention, sepsis, and mortality indicators in real time.
  • Initiates immediate corrective action for clinical variances.
  • Escalates trends and risks to Manager with recommended action plans.
  • Ensures safe chemotherapy/biotherapy administration and oncology quality metric compliance (ONS standards, neutropenic precautions, high-risk medication safety).
  • POLICY, PROCEDURE & REGULATORY ADHERENCE
  • Enforces adherence to all unit-specific policies owned by the Manager.
  • Conducts routine audits to validate policy compliance.
  • Educates staff on revised or newly approved policies.
  • Maintains documentation readiness for Joint Commission, CMS, and CDPH surveys.
  • Audits chemotherapy handling, medication verification, and oncology documentation standards.
  • STAFFING, PRODUCTIVITY & WORKFORCE SUPPORT
  • Executes staffing plans aligned with Manager productivity targets.
  • Coordinates assignments based on acuity and census.
  • Assists with onboarding, competency validation, and coaching.
  • Identifies performance concerns and escalates to Manager appropriately.
  • THROUGHPUT & OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
  • Monitors LOS and discharge barriers during shift coverage.
  • Collaborates with case management and physicians to improve patient flow.
  • Identifies operational inefficiencies and proposes solutions.
  • Monitors oncology LOS, readmission risk, and care transition coordination.
  • FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP SUPPORT
  • Supports cost containment initiatives defined by the Manager.
  • Monitors supply utilization and escalates waste trends.
  • Reinforces appropriate resource allocation practices.
