About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and restoring teak furniture. Skilled in sanding, staining, sealing, and applying finish coats to preserve appearance and durability, with strong proficiency in using power tools and marine epoxy for structural repairs.

Requirements

  • High School education or G.E.D Equivalent preferred
  • One year of woodworking or teak experience required
  • Valid Florida drivers license
  • Basic knowledge of trades to understand repair problems and make minor repairs
  • General knowledge of power tools.
  • Knowledge about maintaining, cleaning and preserving a wide variety of surfaces.
  • Follows instruction regarding the use of chemicals and supplies
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous work lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and climbing.
  • Use ladders up to 6 feet.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
  • Frequent repetitive motions.
  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • Requires regular in-person attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and makes general repairs to the teak furniture (tables, chairs, loungers, beach chairs and railings) this includes Sanding, staining and finish coat to keep in like new condition.
  • Ability to use power tools drills, pneumatic sanders and saws.
  • Knowledge of use of marine epoxy for repairs
  • Inspect all teak furniture on a monthly schedule to determine work that is needed
  • Maintain records of all teak furniture (last refinish date, repairs made ect.)
  • Number and tag all furniture for scheduled maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain board walk area, including replace boards and treat wood with sealer.
  • Keeps the work shop areas safe and clean.
  • Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Maintenance Director.
