About The Position

The Department of Art, Architecture and Art History at the University of San Diego invites applicants for a Teaching Professor position to commence in Fall 2026. The successful candidate may be scheduled to teach architectural introduction studios, lower and upper division history/theory seminars, and/or senior capstone seminars. This position is included in the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit, and the successful applicant employee, subject to the terms of the College’s Collective Bargaining, will be a bargaining unit member and will be subject to the University’s Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Requirements

  • B.Arch with a Master’s Degree (M.Des, MS, MA or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of experience teaching architectural design
  • Expected markers of excellence in design and design pedagogy include national and international awards, publications, exhibitions, student work portfolios, and samples of original design studio briefs.

Nice To Haves

  • M.Arch or other relevant terminal degree, with additional years of teaching experience beyond the minimum.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness or innovation in design pedagogy.
