About The Position

The Katherine Thomas School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an immediate opportunity for a full-time Special Education Middle School Teaching Assistant (TA) beginning with the current school year. Requirements

• MUST have a Bachelors Degree
• Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly

Nice To Haves

• Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
• Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
• Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher's instruction and school/program rules
• Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
• Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
