About The Position

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities invites applications to fill one full-time position at the Teaching Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2026. This is not a tenure-track position. The initial contract is expected to be for a period of three academic years (9 months each), with the possibility of renewals based on the department's future teaching needs, annual performance reviews, and availability of funding. This is primarily a teaching position. Thus, all candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching. The selected hire will spend most of their effort on teaching and teaching-related duties, with some obligations for service to the department, college, and the university. The department is looking for candidates with broad-based training, so that they can teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate and MS levels in areas such as project management, systems engineering, engineering economics, operations research, data science, and human factors. H-1B sponsorship may be provided to those who currently hold a valid visa and are present in the United States.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in Engineering, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse body of students, staff, and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials and teaching courses in the undergraduate and MS programs in the department.
  • Providing opportunities for lifelong learning, especially for alumni and industry practitioners, by developing and teaching certificate programs and distance learning courses.
  • Academic advising of undergraduate and MS students.
  • Helping with the solicitation, procurement, coordination, and advising of undergraduate senior design projects and MS capstone projects.
  • Participating in efforts to expand the department's collaborations with industry and community outreach.
  • Serving on department-, college-, and university-level committees as needed.
