Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience teaching elementary or middle school students.
  • Strong understanding of gifted education and differentiated instruction.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education, Curriculum & Instruction, Gifted Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with gifted, advanced, or high‑ability learners.
  • Familiarity with project‑based learning, inquiry‑based learning, and enrichment models.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver differentiated instruction for gifted and advanced learners in Pre‑K through 8th grade.
  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with The University School’s academic standards and enrichment philosophy.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles.
  • Integrate critical thinking, creativity, problem‑solving, and project‑based learning into daily lessons.
  • Incorporate technology and innovative learning tools to enhance student learning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment.
  • Establish clear expectations that support students’ independence, curiosity, and collaboration.
  • Manage classroom routines and student behavior in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and families on academic performance and developmental growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student work, grades, and progress reports.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to coordinate curriculum, interdisciplinary learning, and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school functions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Support the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Supervise students during school hours, including recess, lunch, and dismissal, as assigned.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, or school events when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.
