Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain).
Experience teaching elementary or middle school students.
Strong understanding of gifted education and differentiated instruction.
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in education, Curriculum & Instruction, Gifted Education, or a related field.
Experience working with gifted, advanced, or high‑ability learners.
Familiarity with project‑based learning, inquiry‑based learning, and enrichment models.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver differentiated instruction for gifted and advanced learners in Pre‑K through 8th grade.
Develop and implement curriculum aligned with The University School’s academic standards and enrichment philosophy.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles.
Integrate critical thinking, creativity, problem‑solving, and project‑based learning into daily lessons.
Incorporate technology and innovative learning tools to enhance student learning.
Create a positive, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment.
Establish clear expectations that support students’ independence, curiosity, and collaboration.
Manage classroom routines and student behavior in a respectful and supportive manner.
Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress.
Provide timely feedback to students and families on academic performance and developmental growth.
Maintain accurate records of student work, grades, and progress reports.
Work closely with faculty and staff to coordinate curriculum, interdisciplinary learning, and enrichment activities.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school functions.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality.
Support the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Supervise students during school hours, including recess, lunch, and dismissal, as assigned.
Participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, or school events when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.
