About The Position

General Description: To teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by the CCA Curriculum Framework, Christian Curriculum Framework (FLOCS, BJU, Abeka, etc.), Florida Department of Education, CCA initiatives in tandem with CCA Student, Staff Handbook, Calvary Christian Center Handbook, under the overall guidance of the competent education authority. To teach, educate, and spiritually advise students according to the educational and spiritual needs, abilities and potential of individual students entrusted to his/her care by the school administration. All spiritual advice will be accomplished using accurate Biblical Doctrine (see Staff & Student Handbooks).

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to all students in the class and having lesson plans available in the classroom for viewing.
  • Teaching according to the educational and spiritual needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
  • Adopting and working towards the school development plan, initiatives and learning management system (LMS).
  • Assigning work, correcting, and marking completed work in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Assessing, timely recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of his/her students.
  • Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students.
  • Participating in arrangements with a national framework for the appraisal of student’s performance (MAP/iReady).
  • Promoting the general progress and well-being of all students, groups of students or classes entrusted to him/her.
  • Providing guidance and advice to students on educational, social, and spiritual matters and on their further education and future careers; providing information of sources with more expert advice.
  • Communicating, consulting, and co-operating with other members of the school staff, including those having positions of special responsibility and parents/guardians to ensure the students’ best interest.
  • Participation in the requirements of the Teacher Evaluation Program.
  • Advising and co-operating with the principals, department heads and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programs, methods of teaching and assessment and the wellbeing of the students.
  • Ensuring high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the subjects through effective dialogue, participating in reciprocal peer observation of class teaching practice by staff.
  • Participation in In-Service education and training courses as well as in continuing professional development (PD) opportunities and taking part in the annual FLOCS training conference (Mandatory). This may include two 2-hour staff/PD’s after school. Any unexcused absences from staff meetings will be treated as 1/4 personal-day off work. Any unexcused absences from FLOCS will be treated as UNPAID days)
  • Maintaining good order and discipline amongst students under his/her care and safeguarding their health at all times.
  • Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum for the better organization and administration of the school.
  • Contributing to the growth of new teachers and volunteers according to arrangements from administration.
  • Ensuring the safe custody and optimum use of equipment normally used during lessons and sees to its regular servicing and maintenance.
  • Participating in Chapels and school assemblies.
  • Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under his/her care.
  • Sharing in any reasonable way in the effective management, organization, order and discipline of the school.
  • Nurtures a culture where teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners and spiritual mentors.
  • Interacting and collaborating with specialist teachers/resource staff and other professionals working with students.
  • Participating in and contributing to student support conferences and reviews of students and collaborating with parents, specialists and other professional stakeholders working with the student.
  • Works collaboratively developing and implementing student support plans of students with specific educational, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • In the case of students with severe learning difficulties, behavior challenges and with communication problems, ensure support logs are developed, support plans are implemented and are updated with necessary information. Work collaboratively with the ASCEND staff on student grades.
  • The employee shall participate in afterschool and outside of school time events that include, but are not limited to serving in Orientation, CCA Open House(s), CCA Parent Teacher Conferences, CCA evening concerts, at least one Calvary Christian Center event determined by CCA administration, at least one CCA evening volunteer event determined by administration, Calvary Easter Event, CCA’s commencement exercises, and attending Calvary Christian Center Sunday Service the week prior to school starting to be blessed by the pastoral staff.
  • Attend a Christian church and provide proof of attendance on church letterhead, signed by a pastor, each semester.
  • The employee shall not use any alcohol, non-prescribed controlled substance or tobacco throughout his/her employment with the school.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.
