About The Position

Facilitates an innovative classroom environment for students to construct their own learning opportunities using design thinking, engineering, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving and communication. Collaborates with other STEM and content-area teachers to authentically integrate multiple disciplines (topics such as alternative energy, robotics, mechanics and social innovation). Understanding of problem-based learning and the ability to measure student growth in nontraditional ways. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Occasional lifting of five (5) to ten (10) pounds - Frequent sitting; Occasional bending, squatting, or standing ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: - Mostly clean and comfortable - Classroom environment with mild to moderate noise level

Requirements

  • CO Teacher License - Colorado Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree: Social Sciences
  • Bachelor's Degree: Technology Education

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Perform duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
