General Summary: The Teacher’s Assistant provides school-based educational, behavioral, and self-care services to individuals who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders at Intermountain Academy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • CPR, First Aid & AED certification, if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report, proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements, if required.
  • Negative TB test result, if required (Employer provides).

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Experience working with special education population preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with and teaches academic subjects, behavioral and personal care goals.
  • Promotes student’s involvement in academics, skills training, socialization, communication, and setting goals.
  • Actively participates as a member of their students’ treatment teams.
  • Completes daily behavior and weekly academic skills data sheets.
  • Ensures students’ health/safety while promoting independence.
  • Observes students’ behavior to ensure safety and address needs.
  • Notifies supervisor of all incidents/accidents and completes related required paperwork.
  • Maintains professionalism at all times.
  • Understands and adheres to all Academy and agency policies.
  • Completes all required training, or as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintains an approved schedule and acceptable level of attendance.
  • Performance other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.
