About The Position

Wayside is one of Massachusetts' most respected youth and family-serving agencies, supporting more than 6,000 youth and families annually across Central, Eastern, and Northeastern regions. Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring for a creative and supportive individual to work in our Wayside Academy! We provide a supportive culture that is team-focused and places value on healthy work dynamics. The Teacher's Aide/Assistant is responsible for providing behavioral and academic support within the classroom to the students and teachers.

Requirements

  • High quality customer service (i.e. ability to connect with others, approachability, being respectful to others, able to communicate with others at all levels).
  • Ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Ability to set limits and support the school culture.
  • Flexibility and creative thinking (i.e. ability to adapt and adjust to changing work situations, processes, and procedures).
  • 6+ months of experience in educational settings preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 6+ months of experience in educational settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing behavioral and academic support within the classroom to the students and teachers.
  • Assist Special Education Teacher/Instructor in delivering curriculum.
  • Act as substitute teacher when necessary.
  • Act professionally and in a manner that is consistent with Wayside's core service values: resiliency, excellence and diversity.
  • Provide 1:1 support to students to maintain their ability to stay in the classroom.
  • Offering behavioral support interventions if a student is unable to maintain in the classroom.
  • Be able to multitask competing priorities to enact the program structure, strive for identified standards of behavior and to provide a positive role model for youth.
