About The Position

The elementary Children Organizing Resources Effectively (CORE) resource room teacher will develop and implement evidence- based instructional, communication and behavioral supports for students on the Autism Spectrum, in collaboration with related service providers. They will function as a case manager and ensure compliant individual education, while supporting the vision and mission of Utica Community Schools by demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence. Collaborate and consult with teachers, related services providers and special services administration. Evaluate and implement strategies and interventions for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders to develop and promote skills and behaviors necessary for social, behavioral and academic success in the within the general education setting. Coordinate lesson plans for students mainstreamed into the general education curriculum. Analyze data to plan individual instructional interventions and positive behavior support plans. Develop instructional strategies to promote positive student outcomes. Meet with parents to discuss student progress and academic achievement. Maintain compliance as determined by IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) including the MET/IEP process, timelines, and eligibility criteria. Determine targeted goals and monitor student progress. Instruct students on the proper use of technology, materials, and equipment.Manage all activities of the assigned paraprofessionals providing services for students.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Michigan Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to candidates with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) Endorsement.
  • Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum recommended.
