About The Position

Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a Reading Specialist position that is available at Auburn Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student, with the goal of inspiring young minds to love reading.

Requirements

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a Reading Specialist
• Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials
• Possess ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement appropriate instruction
• Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
• Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
• Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
• Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
• Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
• Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Reading Recovery and/or early literacy programs
• Experienced or have working familiarity with intervention programs
• Experience or working familiarity with virtual education
