About The Position

Empower students to see their future without limits! Cross Country Education is seeking a passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve as a mentor and specialist within the Southwest SELPA (South Bay) region . Join our supportive team and help students bridge the gap between vision loss and total independence across a vibrant, multi-district community in Lawndale, CA for the '25–'26 school year! Position Overview: Provide expert instruction and case management for a K-12 caseload as a multi-district itinerant specialist within the Southwest SELPA Region to meet diverse student needs. Adapt and create specialized instructional materials, including tactile maps, braille resources, and the integration of low-vision assistive devices to ensure full curriculum access. Partner with Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialists, transcribers, and counselors to foster student independence and create inclusive, barrier-free learning environments. Deliver tailored lesson plans and assessments that prioritize both academic success and functional life skills for students with vision loss.

Requirements

  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential in Visual Impairments
  • Valid Driver’s License - Reliable transportation for commuting between school sites (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Proficiency in assessing student vision needs and implementing specialized strategies for K-12 learners
