About The Position

The Teacher of Spanish Mathematics (0.44) & Gifted & Talented (0.56) supports the academic growth of students through the implementation of DLS pedagogy, comprehensive classroom management, implementing effective engagement strategies, and building authentic teacher/student relationships. This role is responsible for effective instruction and management of a classroom of middle-schoolers. The Teacher of Spanish Mathematics (.44) & Gifted & Talented (0.56) is a contributing member of the Spanish Immersion Program as well as the Gifted & Talented program. This teacher works closely with campus principals, instructional leaders and teachers, parents/families, and students to ensure measurable positive student outcomes. This vacancy will be posted until 08/04/2026 or until filled by a highly qualified candidate. We encourage individuals to apply even if the above date has passed. The anticipated start date for this position is 08/04/2026, however, an earlier start date may be considered. The selected candidate will report to the Gilpin Middle School Principal.

  • 4+ years of teaching experience
  • Previous immersion or Dual Language Immersion teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • The ability to act as a support for full-time Teachers within the domain of both Spanish Mathematics and Gifted & Talented.
  • An eye-for-detail and willingness to work alongside more experienced colleagues to meet the spirit of an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP)
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with parents, particularly when unreasonable and unobtainable requests are made in service of education.
  • A willingness to work with superiors and more experienced colleagues in order to ensure compliance with CDE/DPS/Authorizer requirements
  • Ability to effectively instruct using the given curriculum
  • Ability to supplement and differentiate curriculum
  • Can build authentic teacher/student relationships

  • Understanding of language development and acquisition
  • Utilizes best practices.
  • Uses restorative justice and liberatory design to encourage a classroom environment that reflects reciprocal respect and the presence of a warm demander to manage a classroom of middle school students.
  • Works with parents, colleagues, and to build relationships with community members to deepen learning opportunities.
  • Can communicate with a wide range of students while providing scaffolding for all learners.
  • Utilizes formative and summative assessments to determine student pacing and needs.
  • Additional tasks and/or assignments to further the mission and vision of the school, as assigned.
