About The Position

The Pennington School is seeking a Teacher of Physics for the 2026-27 academic year. The ideal candidate for this position is a highly engaging and passionate science educator with a record of proven effectiveness in teaching Physics. The ideal candidate will embrace a student-centered approach to learning and guide students to work toward personal and collective goals in skills, habits of mind, and understanding. The ability to implement and help create a highly engaging, interactive, experiential science program is required. Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students, colleagues, and parents Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to working in and fostering the Pennington School community This position is full-time, teaching on campus for ten months during the year, and is exempt from overtime, with a starting date in August 2026. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics or related subject area
  • Strong command of high school Physics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for working with students in and out of the classroom
  • Desire to be a member of a community that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Interest in a boarding school environment
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and work with a variety of learning styles

Nice To Haves

  • an advanced degree is a plus
  • Three years of full-time teaching experience in an independent school is preferred, but other relevant experience will be considered

  • Attendance at School events is required, which may include occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Lead at least two extracurricular and/or athletic endeavors per year
