About The Position

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)’s primary function is to design, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans based on applied behavior analysis techniques. Provides training, mentoring and coaching to school and district personnel on effective behavioral interventions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or students with behaviorally complex needs.
• Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities.
• Board certification as a Behavior Analyst AND Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling or School Psychology.
• Working knowledge of functional behavioral assessments and positive behavior supports
• Working knowledge of special education and related services for students with disabilities
• Working knowledge of data collection tools
• Knowledge of current research/practice in applied behavior analysis
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
• Expert level skills in application of behavior analysis methodologies
• Ability to implement behavior management techniques
• Ability to develop and teach preventive strategies/alternative actions for use by teachers and support staff in reducing student misconduct

• Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct Applied Behavior Analysis services to assigned students as needed.
• Conducts observations and functional behavioral assessments. Designs, implements, and monitors behavior intervention plans.
• Develops crisis intervention plans when needed.
• Coordinates regularly scheduled sessions for staff involved in behavioral support and provides assistance with behavioral/social problems of students served by these teachers and support personnel.
• Provides training and coaching on Applied Behavior Analysis techniques.
• Ensures psychosocial and behavioral data has been gathered and maintained on targeted students by coordinating with parents, District staff, and community mental health professionals.
• Supports implementation of effective behavioral interventions by developing and conducting training for teachers, District staff and parents and attending IEP meetings as necessary.
• Collaborates with parents, behavior specialists, mental health professionals, agency personnel, and educators in case management and problem-solving.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
