About The Position

To develop, monitor and supervise the implementation of behavioral programs for severely disabled students; and to provide assistance to district and school personnel in the effective management of students with severe behavior problems.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (either Board Certified Behavior Analyst as designated by BCBA or Florida Certified Behavior Analyst as designated by FL-CBA).
  • Three (3) years of experience in applied behavior analysis and/or behavior management.
  • Demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to produce expected goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and perform clinical behavior analysis with a wide variety of behavioral problems.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning processes.
  • Knowledge of clinical behavior analysis and a wide variety of behavioral problems.
  • Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice.
  • Knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision making and accountability for results that facilitate creative processes toward achievement of district expected goals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the distinction between line and staff positions and functions within an organization.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district expected results.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision-making.
  • Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this goal.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral assessments, collect data, select treatment procedures, identify restricted intervention procedures, implement specific intervention procedures, write and monitor intervention plans, and implement procedures designed to achieve proficiency, maintenance and generalization.
  • Review intervention plans and approve the same for implementation, revise the same prior to implementation, or reject the same as inappropriate for implementation.
  • Attend educational planning meetings and provide consultation regarding the appropriate use of behavioral procedures or the appropriateness of certain behavioral procedures for specific children.
  • Provide expert testimony at formal hearings regarding the appropriateness or the implementation of certain behavioral procedures.
  • Implement emergency seclusion and restraint of student/child as needed and in adherence with all state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide feedback and assessment of services as perceived by users of the services.
  • Provide in-service training to administrators, teachers, and parents on selected topics (e.g., basic behavior principles, basic teaching methodologies, noncompliance, disruptive behavior, aggressive behavior, self-injurious behavior, and stereotypic behavior).
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop professional skills in the area of behavior analysis and leadership skills in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS.
  • With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
