About The Position

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full-time/full-year Teacher to join our team and provide a nurturing and safe classroom environment for infants/toddlers in our Early Head Start program at Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI. The Early Head Start (EHS) Teachers assist the Lead Teachers in carrying out developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers. The Teachers role is to promote the health, nutrition, and education of the children, attend to their safety and welfare, observe and record behaviors of children and identify each childs strengths and areas to grow. The Teacher Associates will follow the requirements of the Head Start Performance Standards, RI Child Care Center Regulations for Licensing, and RI Department of Education Early Learning Standards. Our Early Head Start program utilizes the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) approach and the Creative Curriculum to ensure that all children have the opportunity for high quality, nurturing, and safe learning experience.

Requirements

  • excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with parents, children, staff, community representatives, and volunteers
  • a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate with a minimum of 9 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework and a supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting and must be enrolled in a Child Development Associate (CDA) program to be completed within one year of hire OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Early Childhood and a supervised teaching experience in ECE setting OR
  • Bachelors or Associates in Early Childhood Education or a related field and supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting.
