About The Position

Provides and is accountable for the planning, instruction, assessment, communication, interpersonal relations, safety, and management of a Dual-Language Immersion classroom.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Must possess or be eligible for a Collegiate Professional, Postgraduate Professional, or Provisional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
Endorsement in Spanish preK-12 or Dual Language (target language) PK-6
Effective written and oral communication in both Spanish and English
Knowledge of content, curriculum, and pedagogy of elementary-level instruction
Excellent academic language model in Spanish

Responsibilities

Plan and implement a Dual Language Immersion instructional program that provides appropriate learning experiences for each student
Establish a safe and supportive learning environment that allows each student to demonstrate agency, ownership, and reflection
Design and implement authentic and engaging learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and the LCPS curriculum to maximize student achievement using a variety of tools and instructional resources
Personalize instruction based on the needs of students
Assess student growth and progress related to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes
Adhere to the LCPS Grading and Assessment policies and regulations
Monitor and support student behavior
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, students, and community members to promote and support student learning
Direct the work of teaching assistants, student teachers, and volunteers
Participate in the school’s professional learning community to deepen the understanding of curriculum, content, competencies, assessment, and the developmental needs of students
