About The Position

To care for and educate children ages 12 weeks to school age in a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment following criteria from NAEYC, Texas Rising Star and Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards. Also, to model high-quality interactions, guidance and education strategies for college students and visitors to the lab school. This position reports to the Facility Director of the Child Development Lab School and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education, OR an Associate's degree with at least 36 credits in an early childhood education-related field
  • One year of experience working with young children, ages birth to five (5) years. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree in an Education-related field for 1 year of experience
  • Commitment to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within first six weeks of employment
  • Knowledge of Texas Child Care Regulatory Minimum Standards and NAEYC Standards of quality
  • Knowledge of Child Development
  • Knowledge of Children's nutrition
  • Knowledge of Appropriate guidance strategies for use with young children
  • Skills in Working with young children
  • Skills in CPR/First Aid
  • Skills in Basic functions and use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to Communicate professionally using oral and written methods
  • Ability to Problem-solve and make classroom decisions in a timely manner
  • Ability to Model appropriate teaching, interaction, and guidance strategies for lab students and teacher aides
