About The Position

The Department of Teacher Education is currently seeking K-12 Art Education
Supervisors who are enthusiastic about supervising Apprentice Teacher
Candidates/Practicum Students in field experiences and adjunct field experience
seminar instructors. Supervisor assignments and seminar instruction will vary
based on departmental needs.

Candidates are expected to perform the following essential duties:

Requirements

• Previous k12 teaching certification/experience and ability to conduct field observations required.
• The applicant should have experience and/or training relevant to the content area/grade level being supervised.
• A willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, as well as teach, supervise, and mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds is essential.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the quality of the placement experience for the Apprentice Teacher/Practicum Student.
• Field observations, coaching, and assessment of Apprentice Teachers/Practicum Students as prescribed by the department.
• Establish a cooperative relationship and regular communication with cooperating teacher, host site, and Field Experiences office.
• Use a variety of standard as well as new and innovative technology as established and communicated by the Department, School, and University to carry out the administrative and pedagogical duties associated with field experiences.
• Maintain current knowledge of the discipline.
• Adhere to the requirements of the department's curriculum.
• Adhere to all university safety policies regarding classroom equipment and materials.
• Grade assignments and complete assessments in a timely manner so that students may benefit from the feedback.
• Provide students with individualized help and consultation to meet students’ needs.
• Meet administrative requirements and deadlines such as those for observations, conducting student evaluations, and submitting final grades.
