Job Summary Under the supervision of the CFC Director and the general direction of either the Lead or Instructional Teacher, the Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the teaching team in implementing the educational program for the Infant/Toddler and/or Preschool programs in the Child and Family Center, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Requirements

  • 6 semester units of course work in early childhood education or child development required (12 units preferred) including at least 3 semester units in each core area: Child/human growth and development, Child, Family, and Community, or Child and Family Relations, and Programs/Curriculum.
  • Possess or qualify for a Child Development Permit- Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • LIVESCAN: A background check (including a criminal records check) and LiveScan check must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with CSU.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Nice To Haves

  • Complete at least three units in Infant/Toddler Development.
  • 50 days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care setting.
  • Associate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support the care and supervision of the infant/toddler and/or preschool classrooms.
  • Support the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Under the direction of the supervising teacher, set up appropriate activities daily.
