About The Position

The Teacher Aide is responsible for participating in classroom team planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children. Participate and assist in planning and implementing classroom activities that meet the needs of individual children and are based on agency standards. Work with 0- to 5-year-old children in groups and individually.

Requirements

  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
  • Gateways Level 2 or higher
  • A minimum of one year experience working with young children, preferably in a childcare setting.
  • Relates well with children and adults.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Possess interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity and respect for differences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in classroom team in the preparation and implementation of lesson plans for classroom activities covering all developmental areas: language, cognitive, physical, personal, social/emotional, and creative.
  • Explore new curriculum ideas.
  • Assist in creating an atmosphere in which children can learn, grow, build self-esteem, and which they can feel secure.
  • Assist in adapting curriculum for planning and implementation of activities to meet each child's individual needs.
  • Assist classroom team in assessment of needs of individual children.
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents.
  • Observe, document, and report appropriate aspects of and changes in the child's health, including but not limited to injuries, changes in physical appearance, and/or social behaviors.
  • Discuss and maintain records of child observation and child evaluations.
  • Share classroom and program information with parents.
  • With the classroom team, perform administrative record keeping, including daily attendance and food forms, and evaluate the quality of childcare services provided.
  • With the classroom team, responsible for room arrangements and proper care of classroom equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary environment.
  • Maintain knowledge current in the field, including attendance at seminars, workshops, and in-service training programs.
  • Participate in programs, agency, and staff committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
