About The Position

The Trainer is responsible for delivering and supporting the consistent and effective training of new hires and current team members at The Big Chill. This role ensures that all staff are properly trained in company standards, service expectations, and operational procedures. The Restaurant Trainer plays a vital part in onboarding, skill development, and maintaining a positive, team-oriented work environment and modeling our CARES culture.

Requirements

  • Must be a SimpleHR employee and has been in the target role for a minimum of three months
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, approachable, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to motivate others and lead by example
  • Proficiency in training tools such as ExpandShare and R365
  • No disciplinary action within the last three months
  • Fully certified in all positions and stations that he/she will train
  • Preferred open availability with flexibility to train as needed

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate New Hire Training
  • Friendly and professional meet and greet with all new hires and introduction to The Big Chill workplace.
  • Deliver initial training on policies, service standards, safety, compliance, and team expectations.
  • Ongoing Training & Development
  • Train existing team members on menu updates, seasonal changes, and updated procedures.
  • Provide continuous education and coaching for front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
  • Monitor and support training progress using ExpandShare
  • Training Content Support
  • Assist in the development and refinement of training materials, checklists, and resources.
  • Ensure all training aligns with The Big Chill brand culture, service expectations, and operational goals.
  • Mentorship & Performance Coaching
  • Act as a role model and mentor to new team members.
  • Provide constructive feedback and communicate performance concerns to managers as needed.
  • Reinforce a positive and professional culture focused on teamwork, respect, and service excellence.
  • Team Support & Communication
  • Coordinate with managers and department leads to identify training needs.
  • Ensure all team members have the knowledge and skills required for success in their roles.
  • Track training completion and communicate milestones to leadership.
