About The Position

The following description is not intended as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. Manage and ensure timely filing of sales and use tax, excise tax, and 1099 reporting across multiple states. Monitor tax filing deadlines and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Communicate effectively with internal teams, explaining complex indirect tax matters (sales/use, payroll) in a clear and accessible manner. Provide tailored guidance on compliance requirements, deadlines, and best practices. Conduct training sessions to improve the team's understanding of indirect tax compliance. Develop training materials and resources to enhance onboarding and continuous learning for team members. Maintain up-to-date sales tax rates for state and local entities using proprietary software. Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure timely updates to compliance processes. Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of indirect tax compliance. Serve as the primary liaison between the company and external tax advisors, providing necessary documentation and data. Share insights and updates with the team to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Provide tax guidance on business transactions, acquisitions, and expansions. Assist in various international tax planning activities including tax research, estimated tax forecasts, and other projects involving a high degree of complexity Prepare and maintain tax workpapers, schedules, and documentation for audits. Respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices, ensuring resolution of any disputes. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of tax experience in corporate tax compliance (multi-entity experience preferred) or tax team within Big Four.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, local tax regulations and transfer pricing.
  • Experience managing sales and use tax, excise tax, and 1099 reporting.
  • Experience coordinating with external tax preparers for corporate income tax filings.
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, OneSource, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tax filings and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with tax compliance research tools such as Bloomberg, Avalara are a plus.
  • CPA, EA, or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) is a plus.
