About The Position

The Tax Senior Manager, working under the direction of the Tax Principals, performs professional-level tax duties to ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality tax services relating to the department's day-to-day operations, including preparing and analyzing tax records and reports, processing local, state, and federal tax returns, preparing claims for tax refunds, completing statistical and financial reports, participating in the department's strategic development, providing assistance, training, supervision, and review for other Tax Accountants, and engaging in business development and client relationship management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA required and a minimum of seven years of professional experience preferably in a public accounting firm.
  • A minimum of five years supervising and training experience.
  • Successful experience with the management of Tax engagements and client relationships.
  • Market presence in your specific industry or area of expertise.
  • Subject matter expertise in corporate, partnership, individual or trust and estate taxation required; prior experience working with large, multi-state, middle-market clients (preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles and specialized knowledge in at least 2 areas of individual or business taxation including estate, trusts, international tax, mergers and acquisitions and/or structuring.
  • Experience with Profx and Engagement (preferred).
  • Construction, C-Corps, Tax Provisions, and Tax Consulting (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Primary engagement manager with responsibilities for billing, realization, and collections.
  • Develops and executes a business development plan which includes development of additional services from existing clients, development of new clients, networks or new services.
  • Uses research tools as appropriate; reviews tax research projects; initiates research projects as marketing tools.
  • Effectively manages and reviews tax compliance to ensure efficiency, proactive client service, technical proficiency and holds team to same standard.
  • Presents in-house training on specialty tax topics.
  • Supervises and mentors Managers and Senior Team Members to develop their skills and expertise using both candor and curiosity skills.
  • Assists the department Principals in the strategic development of the department.
