Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP is seeking a full-time Tax Paralegal / Project Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys problem-solving, writing, and working in a fast-paced transactional environment, and who is interested in developing a long-term career within a law firm. Although the successful candidate will collaborate with attorneys and professional staff across the Firm, the primary office location will be either the Firm’s New York City or Newark, New Jersey office. Position Summary The Tax Paralegal / Project Coordinator works closely with the Firm’s tax attorneys throughout the full lifecycle of financing transactions. This role combines substantive legal support with project coordination responsibilities and involves regular interaction with clients and other transaction participants. A polished, professional demeanor and strong communication skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials, or commensurate professional experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about learning
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to meet transactional demands
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Prior experience in public finance is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct project due diligence in connection with financing transactions
  • Draft certificates and other transaction-related documents
  • Attend meetings and participate in conference calls
  • Assemble and organize transaction documentation
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of transaction closings
  • Manage project timelines and monitor key deadlines
  • Maintain and update document tracking systems
  • Coordinate meetings and prepare related materials
  • Draft client memoranda and newsletters
