About The Position

The Tax Manager position is responsible for overseeing the tax planning, tax reporting, and compliance functions for multi-state and global manufacturing business. Privately-held C Corp firm with three domestic and three foreign subsidiaries. The Tax Manager oversees the completion of accurate state and federal corporate tax returns with minimal individual tax work for the company shareholders. Requires ability to communicate with wide range of employees including manufacturing managers and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an Accredited University.
  • Minimum of 6+ years' experience in a financial or tax accounting role;
  • ideally 7+ years' experience in corporate, and international compliance.
  • CPA license.

Nice To Haves

  • Large multi-national corporation with foreign subsidiary taxation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Will identify and calculate all Schedule M transactions (Book/Tax differences on Returns.)
  • Will prepare all Tax Return supporting work papers (Fed/State Returns.)
  • Will determine all Tax Credits for Tax Returns.
  • Will facilitate any tax audits by the IRS, City or State governments.
  • Will calculate/Pay estimated taxes quarterly.
  • Will prepare Tax Return Extensions.
  • Will prepare the following miscellaneous returns: A. Business Licenses B. Annual Reports for States C. All Fuel Refunds D. Foreign Bank Reporting (Department of Treasury FBAR) E. Obama Reinsurance/Patient Covered fees F. Form 1099(s)
  • Will estimate the tax provision quarterly and calculate the annual Tax Provision entry including Deferred Taxes.
  • Will determine tax options and strategy.
  • Will research tax questions on existing/proposed transactions.
  • Will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales (state, county and city) use tax returns and other mandated returns.
  • Will assist in preparing information for the year-end financial audit and participate in year end inventory count.
  • Will perform special projects involving estate and succession planning.
  • Will perform special projects involving Industrial Development Authority Tax Abatement requests and be responsible for annual compliance reporting including utility gross receipts annual return.
  • Will recommend improvements in overall internal controls to strength protection of company assets.
  • Will assist with M&A research as required.
  • Will follow up with John Hancock to ensure 5500 for benefit plan is filed.
  • Will prepare all documentation necessary for outside CPA preparation of Phifer SRL tax return and audit.
  • Will renew state resale permits.
  • Will calculate annual SIFL for personal usage of company airplane.
  • Will be responsible for staying up-to-date on current tax laws and ability to present how these changes will impact the company.
  • Will assist HR in awareness and interpretation of any tax related changes for payroll including California.
