About The Position

Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a publicly traded manufacturing company to identify a senior tax leader for their team in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a highly visible, on‑site opportunity (5 days per week) offering leadership responsibility, strategic impact, and strong compensation. Location Norfolk, VA (On‑site, 5 days per week) Compensation $180,000–$190,000 base salary plus a 25% bonus Relocation assistance available for the right candidate About the Role This role will lead key components of the organization’s U.S. tax function, overseeing a small team and working closely with senior leadership. The position is responsible for tax compliance oversight, tax planning initiatives, and support of M&A and other transactions.

Requirements

Significant progressive experience in corporate tax, including compliance and planning
Prior experience managing or mentoring staff
Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to operate at both strategic and hands‑on levels
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders

Nice To Haves

Big 4 public accounting experience, or a blend of public accounting and corporate tax experience
Experience supporting M&A and complex transactions
Background working in a large, complex, or publicly traded organization

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the internal tax team, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
Oversee corporate tax compliance activities, including coordination with external providers
Drive tax planning strategies aligned with business objectives and growth initiatives
Support mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions, including tax structuring and due diligence
Partner with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams as a trusted tax advisor
Ensure adherence to applicable tax laws, regulations, and internal controls
