About The Position

GMP's paid internship program is a genuine introduction to the world of public accounting — not a coffee-and-copies experience. Designed around your schedule, this is a 20–25 hour per week paid opportunity at a rate comparable to our entry-level staff positions. You'll work alongside every level of the firm, from staff to partners, gaining a firsthand look at how a high-performing accounting firm serves its clients as trusted advisors.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (some coursework in accounting required)
• Communicates clearly with genuine motivation and curiosity
• Comfortable learning new technology — including AI tools — and applying it with confidence
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Takes accountability for their work and thrives in a team environment
• Genuinely interested in what’s happening in the business world, not just the classroom

Nice To Haves

• Interest or curiosity in AI.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of individual and business income tax returns, including direct interaction with client personnel
• Make adjusting entries and complete trial balances in support of tax return preparation
• Support the preparation of payroll returns and related forms
• Assist with general ledger work and financial statement preparation
• Contribute to special projects — including tax projections, consulting engagements, and tech-forward initiatives
• Work with the firm’s technology stack, including AI-powered tools, to perform work efficiently and accurately
• Conduct research projects that sharpen technical thinking
• Participate in staff meetings to gain knowledge and share experiences
• Support administrative staff with tasks as needed by the firm
