About The Position

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. The Internal Audit Service (IAS) of the Independent Evaluation, Audit, and Investigations Services (IEAIS) is responsible for the internal audit function to UN Women. IAS provides independent, objective assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance arrangements, risk management and controls. It manages the internal audit function for UN Women covering its Headquarters and offices away from headquarters. Under the supervision of the Chief, Internal Audit Service (IAS), the Internal Audit Intern will support with the development of a technology driven Internal Audit Risk Assessment utilizing PowerBI. In addition, the intern will support the Internal Audit specialists with the performance of risk-based audits of business processes at UN Women headquarters, of programmes and projects, corporate functions, systems and internal controls, and implementation of policies and procedures. This includes supporting the development of technology and AI supported approaches to testing.

Requirements

  • University studies in any related field, experience with data analytics and PowerBI is required.
  • Meet one of the following:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;

Responsibilities

  • Support development of a PowerBI enabled Internal Audit Risk Assessment
  • Support development of technology supported techniques to achieve the Internal Audit Plan
  • Support risk-based end-to-end audits for performance/value for money engagements, maturity and risk assessments, governance, compliance, and project management audits through design of data analytics and AI supported approaches for performing tests to support the completion of audit work, increase assurance coverage and/or increase efficiency of procedures.
  • Design analytics, perform trend analyses, and develop visual narratives that enhance assurance and advisory work.
  • Develop an understanding of the use of technology in supporting risk assessment and internal audit testing processes.

Benefits

  • Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
