Work Shift Job Summary: The Tax Assistant position would focus on indirect tax compliance and tax related administrative responsibilities. This includes compliance for Personal Property Taxes, Business Licenses, Exemption Applications, Real Property Tax, Sales & Use Tax, and providing analysis and guidance on technical indirect tax issues based on research of tax laws, regulations and policies. Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and processes related to indirect taxes. Primary responsibilities include: - Assist with preparation and timely filing of accurate Personal Property Tax returns. Analyze and validate tax data as well as resolve discrepancies. - Assist in preparing Business Licenses applications for new locations and annual renewals and disbursement of updated licenses. -Provide information for processing of tax payments and fees. - Prepare property tax exemption applications. - Analyze GL accounts and tax reports to ensure accurate tax filings and related postings in GL and review monthly tax account reconciliations and provide timely adjustments. -Resolve notices and outstanding issues. -Obtain and reconcile data and prepare Sales Tax filings. -Work with other staff and taxing authorities in carrying out his or her responsibilities ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations and filing requirements. -Performs detailed jurisdictional reconciliations for internal and external audits and requesting refunds -Identifies drivers for abnormalities, then researches, analyzes, and documents their work proposing corrective action(s) -Provide accurate information for cash projections related to indirect taxes. -Interface with other areas of the tax department, finance, and business partners throughout the organization -Remain current on legislation and regulatory ruling impacting indirect taxes. Ability to provide guidance across all areas of indirect tax such as Federal, State, and Local Tax legislations, reciprocity rules, multi-state taxation. -Provide ideas, solutions, and tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of indirect tax process -Perform ad hoc duties as needed - Cross train with other members of tax department - This is a hybrid position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • Associate's Degree
  • Minimum 2 years
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe High
