About The Position

The Tax Administrator I is responsible for performing mutual fund regulatory and tax reporting functions in a manner that ensures fund objectives are met for the clients of Ultimus Fund Solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tax, accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience with taxation and administration of mutual funds.
  • Tax laws and procedures applicable to investment companies.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adobe Acrobat.
  • Troubleshoots issues utilizing creative and critical thinking skills.
  • Multitasking, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Initiative-taking, strategic, and meticulous approaches with a strong commitment to quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity, responsibility, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares estimated year-end income and capital gain distributions.
  • Prepares Subchapter M and Excise tax provision work papers.
  • Calculates fund distribution requirements to satisfy both income and excise requirements.
  • Prepares tax work papers and distribution analyses for mutual funds.
  • Determines the fund tax status of investments and the identification of book and tax differences.
  • Analyzes simple general ledger accounts to provide roll-forward of tax accounts and to identify items of income and expense that would require a tax treatment different than book.
  • Researches and analyzes federal and state tax laws and regulations, and court or other regulatory agencies rulings or decisions to present to managers.
  • Participate in efforts with the financial administration department for the development of tax and regulatory compliance for reporting to regulatory agencies, board of directors and financial officers.
  • Maintains current knowledge of IRS tax law requirements.
  • Gathers information needed to respond to requests from external audit firms and regulatory agencies.
  • Gathers information needed to respond to IRS and auditor requests in connection with formal or informal audits.
  • Daily contact with the financial administration department regarding tax implications of investment activities.
  • Contact as needed with regulatory agencies and audit firms regarding general information, resolution of issues, and inquiries of reporting requirements.
  • May perform other duties as required and assigned.
